The velvet crush continues. I am going to be honest for a minute… So I walked out of my house and was getting ready to shoot this outfit and my husband says to me, “Are you sure about this outfit?” LOL – I said, ah YES! I thought for a second to go back and change, but if you really enjoy an outfit – own it! I truly believe that if you are comfortable and confident with your outfits, it doesn’t matter. I am loving mixing textures these days and really enjoy the velvet and denim combination. Fashion fades, style lasts. My nonna kept repeating that one to me 😉 I have been wearing velvet for a very long time. Sometimes it’s “in” and sometimes it’s “out.” For me, it’s the type of fabric that is timeless. It looks and feels great and is truly flattering whether a skirt, top or shoes! Oh, and not to mention velvet is totally fun.
The J.Crew skirt I have on is a rich navy color and has an elastic waistband, so it is super comfortable. I usually am not a big fan of mid length skirts because of my height (I’m 5′ 1/2″) — the half counts — but I could not pass up this pretty little number. I paired it with a J.Crew denim button down, simple accessories and basic patent heels. (Linked necklace and similar heels below)
No outfit is complete without my denim jacket. If you have read my posts in the past, I have a slight obsession with mine. It is the perfect fall jacket and I wear it to work, running errands, and even out to dinner. When I purchased this skirt, my jacket popped immediately into my mind because I was excited to try it on with it. Yes, I know, I am a dork. For this look, I added a simple white button down and a lighter wash denim jacket.
Hope you enjoyed reading one of my shorter posts, but velvet just speaks for itself sometimes;) By the way, at the end of this shoot, my husband came back around and said that he actually liked it… needed to get used to the combo. He’s a character. Thanks and please stop by again soon! XOXO
