A few weeks ago I decided to go out of my jean comfort zone. I decided that I wanted to change up my jean look, so I tried on different ‘fits’ to see which one I would like better. Ever since the skinny leg jean was made popular I absolutely loved them! I am on the shorter side (yes, under 5’ 1” – lol) therefore a tapered leg tends to elongate and I definitely need the illusion of longer legs and height. I have so many different types of skinny jeans – distressed, dark, light, moto – it was very tough to try on and go back to a wider leg jean because I am so used to the other fit… and I am really not a big fan of change.
I guess the reason why I was apprehensive about purchasing a wider leg jean because it reminded me of my high school and college years looks and when looking back at some of those pictures I was like, whaaaaa. But, anyway, after reading and seeing the spring collections earlier in the year – it was really all about the wider leg jean. So I finally decided to give it a whirl! I tried on several different types (i.e. bell button, wide leg) and decided to purchase the STRAIGHT leg jean. After I purchased them I still was not completely sold on them, so I reached out to you guys, our followers, and asked for feedback. Thank you for your comments! I decided to not only keep them, but inspired me to write a post styling them 😉
Ok, truth be told, when doing this shoot it was 34 degrees outside. I tried my best to hide how cold I was – ENJOY 😉

The particular ones I chose have a distressed look and are a lighter color that is perfect for the springtime! The other detail that drew me to this pair of jeans is the exposed buttons, the raw hem and the higher waist (keeps everything in, ya know ladies!) The jean is tighter through the thigh and then straight down the leg. I have styled here with a denim on denim look and added a button up floral top which I am obsessed with. The floral is called the ‘liberty’ print and it has the prettiest soft colors.
To complete the outfit I added these fun blue love knot drop earrings for a pop of color. They are lightweight and super cute for any outfit.

For this look I paired these fabulous jeans with a cropped cardigan and camisole! I gives the jeans a casual yet dressier feel and can be worn for a night out or running errands on the weekend.

Ahhh the blazer. I love jeans, tee and a blazer. I gives the jeans a bit more sophistication but still fun with a graphic tee! This simple look is great for the weekend for date night or even for a dress down day a work. Personally if wearing to work I would swap out the distressed jeans and throw on a pair with no distressing. Hey another reason to buy another pair of jeans!
And of course… the hottest shoes from last year and will be making an appearance again in new fun colors for this season is the Steve Madden Carrson stacked heel sandal. Love these and will be wearing them often as the temps become warmer.
