Off Duty Teacher, Off the Shoulder Top

Like many professions, being a teacher requires you to follow a certain dress code.  Of course you have the creative ability to express who you are, but there are certain clothing items that you just avoid.  I can’t imagine any of my high school teachers wearing crop tops or shorts or strapless dresses in the classroom.  When shopping, I always look for pieces that I can wear for work and play, but that’s definitely not the case when it comes to my off the shoulder collection.  Luckily, I am on leave from work until this September, so I have some time to get my money’s worth!  What about when I go back to work?  Maybe I can wear them under a chunky cardigan?  Blazer?  Hmmm…  I am open to suggestions!

I have always loved the off the shoulder style, so of course I was thrilled when this trend rose to popularity again.  It compliments a wide range of body types and varieties of the style accommodate women of every age.  This is one of my favorite tops.  It fits really nicely and I love the design of the sleeves.  I don’t usually wear a necklace with off the shoulder tops.  I prefer to wear a cute pair of earrings instead.  This pair by Shashi is another summer favorite (They come in white too!).  They were recently sold out, but are now available on backorder.   I’ve worn this top with shorts and flat sandals for a more casual look, but decided to wear them with  jeans  (similar jeans at a fraction of the price!) and these very popular (probably too popular at this point) sandals to dress it up a bit.  This clutch is a “go-to” for me.  It is simple, chic, and large enough to carry more than just your money and phone.  It comes in many different colors and patterns too.  You can never go wrong with a simple, black clutch.
