I was never a big gym ‘goer.’ To be perfectly honest I hate going to the gym. Not really sure why, but I’ve tried a few times to join a gym and instead of taking advantage of everything the gym has to offer, I made many donations to whatever gym organization I joined that year – lol. This year my husband joined a local gym and they were running a special for additional family memberships… of course I was like, YES I am definitely going to go this time. Well, you can probably imagine how that ended up. After almost a year of excuses as to why I could not go, I finally cancelled my membership. Maybe it’s the equipment, maybe I just get bored, or maybe I am just not motivated – probably a combination of all three!
When I was younger I was very active, played volleyball and tennis and loved every second! I would have continued playing tennis over the years, but having young children and working full time, team and practice commitments were increasingly difficult to maintain. When I was playing tennis I felt great, had more energy and was just more active, which made me happy. Not to mention… the outfits were so cute! I miss playing and plan to regularly pick it up again one day. Tennis is the type of sport you can play for a very long time and it is also a great way to stay in shape and have a little fun. Enter 2018…
After years of excuses I finally decided that it was time to try something new and go out of my fitness comfort zone. I feel strongly about starting a work out regimen mostly because I am approaching a milestone birthday in June (the BIG 4-0) and I need to really make time for me! I usually do not make new year resolutions but this is something I would like to stick with this year and beyond. It is super important that I find something that challenges me but most importantly keeps me interested haha. Therefore, when I heard that a new fitness place was opening in my town this month, Pure Barre, it sparked my interest. I have always wanted to try a Barre class… have you guys ever tried Barre? I have heard that it is tough, but gives you a full body workout. I know, I know… some are you are thinking that I easily could have tried a barre class at the gym I belonged too, however there is just something about a traditional gym that just does not work for me. Everyone is different and I just need, for me, to find the right work out routine that works best. I hope that I enjoy the barre classes and I stick to my fitness goals for this year. – Will give you guys an update of my progress in the next few weeks;)
My top 5 goals:
1. Make fitness a part of my weekly routine AND stick to it!
2. Get stronger
3. Master a new skill set
4. Good nights sleep (silly right?? But, so important – I definitely do not sleep enough)
5. Stay positive, results do not happen overnight!
Of course I would not be able to start a fitness routine without NEW workout gear 😉 There are several brands that I like for gear, but I found a few super cute items at the Gap that I will be using for my new classes. Please scroll to shop these looks :))
