I am always on the hunt for a comfortable, stylish dress that I can wear all the time. Too often, I buy a dress, wear it once or twice, and never wear it again! As I was preparing to enter the blogging world last spring, I scanned through my dress closet (yes, I have a closet dedicated to just dresses) and realized that I do not wear half of them! Lots and lots of money just wasted. How could I address this issue? I decided on two things: 1.) Anytime I buy a new dress, I must get rid of an old one. 2.) If a special occasion should come up where I’m required to wear something a bit fancy, then I will just rent one. (If you have not checked out Rent the Runway yet, what are you waiting for?!?) Now, when I encounter a prospective dress, I try to imagine wearing it or multiple occasions. if I cannot see myself styling it in multiple ways, then I pass.
Jewel tones are always popular in the fall. If you have read any of my previous posts, I discussed how the Pantone Color Institute identifies the hottest colors for each season. Of course, emerald green (also known as “Shaded Spruce” in the Pantone world) is one of them! Recently, while browsing online I came across this gem and immediately fell in love. Not only is it a beautiful shade of emerald green, but it’s under $50! What’s not to love? Emerald green exudes class and instantly transforms a rather simple dress into something much more. I have always been a fan of emerald green and I especially love wearing it in the fall. This dress is made of a soft and stretchy jersey knit fabric. It may be a simple dress, but the color really makes it standout. You can dress it up with a pair of satin sock booties (as seen here) or dress it down with a pair of slides-ons for a more casual look. I also imagine wearing it with a cozy cardigan and a pair of over-the-knee-boots this fall.
I apologize, but I have to veer off course for a moment to talk about the boots that you are seeing in these photos – they are amazing! These booties are my new obsession. They are made of a gorgeous satin material (another hot trend this fall!) and are fitted to be like a sock. Hence, the name “sock bootie.” The 4″ block heel adds comfort, especially if you don’t particularly like wearing high heels. Lastly, the pointed toe gives this bootie a sophisticated look. If you haven’t embraced the sock bootie trend yet, you need to check them out. They might just convince you to jump on board! Anyhow, back to the dress….
This dress is a blank canvas, so you can accessorize however you want! I styled it here with minimal accessories so that the emerald green color really pops. The dress is not lined, but you cannot see through it at all. One of my favorite jackets for this season is this faux leather moto. I pretty much wear it with everything, which is why it’s no surprise that I threw it on here. It is one of the best faux leather jackets I have come across and it’s under $100! This clutch has been a go-to of mine since the summer. It is so chic and well-made. It’s honestly the perfect black clutch.
