I have to be honest, shopping for a new car is one of my LEAST favorite things to do. I find it to be an arduous task. Before having kids, buying a car was pretty simple because I was only shopping with myself in mind. Now, as a mom of two busy little ones and someone who often has family and friends in tow, my car needs have changed. Finding a car that is suitable for our family’s lifestyle has been quite challenging. Although I do a lot of research online, I always like to visit the dealership to see the car in person and take it for a test drive.
Recently, I was given the opportunity from Lincoln of Smithtown (located in Smithtown, New York) to drive the new Lincoln Aviator for one week. Honestly, when the opportunity was presented, I had no clue about the Aviator. I didn’t even know what it looked like. Of course, I quickly searched it online. The first image that I saw had me in awe. It was so chic and sophisticated. As I continued to browse the gallery, I fell more and more in love. Not only was it beautiful, but it seemed to have everything I needed in an SUV and more!
When I pulled up to Lincoln of Smithtown, I was impressed by the sleek and modern design of the building. When you enter the showroom, you truly feel like you are walking into luxury. The showroom is spectacular… bright, clean, and modern. Even though you’re in a fancy showroom, the manager and salespeople make you feel right at home. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. I’ve been to the showroom a few times now, and it’s always the same; everyone is incredibly nice, helpful, and not pushy! There’s nothing worse that having someone pressure you into making decisions you are not necessarily ready to make. All of the employees truly care about making their customers happy and go out of their way to make sure that you are fully comfortable with your decision.
Even the bathrooms are sleek and modern!
When I first sat in the Aviator, excitement poured over me. I have owned luxury vehicles in the past, but nothing quite like this one. The interior is just as gorgeous as the exterior and the technology features are extraordinary. And yes, it’s a smooth drive. Yes, it’s made of high-quality materials. Yes, it’s good on gas. It’s a luxury vehicle… it better be! You can read more about the Aviator here, but I wanted to share some of my favorite features from my personal experience as a busy, on-the-go working mom.
- Air-conditioned seats – Okay, so I know you might be rolling your eyes at this one, but I have never been in a car with air-conditioned seats. My current SUV has black leather that gets awfully hot. Turning this bad-body on was glorious! And since we’re speaking about seats, the Aviator’s are so well-crafted! I also loved that the Aviator I drove had rich, “ebony roast” color leather seats. I normally would choose black or tan for the interior, but this color was beautiful.
- Touch-screen everything – The Aviator has a large touchscreen that is user-friendly. It syncs to your phone and all the apps/features are easily organized and accessible. (Just as a side note… there is a touchscreen in the second row too. My son loved that he had his own “ipad controls.”)
- Great Legroom – This is something that we lack in our current car. My kids constantly get their dirty shoes all over the backs of the front seats. It drives me crazy! The Aviator has ample space for them to wiggle their legs without getting dirty footprints on the car.
- Safety Features – What parent doesn’t want the best safety features to help protect their precious cargo? The Aviator has an impressive list of safety features. First of all, there are cameras all around the car so you can literally see everything around you. The driver-assist technology can help you get in and out of any tight spot, detect when other vehicles are too close to you, and adjust your speed based on the cars’ speed around you. There is a dual backup camera that’s pretty neat as well.
- You can open or close the truck by kicking your foot underneath – By far one of the coolest features. I am always carrying a ton of stuff in my arms whether its bags, boxes, or children. (I am one of those people who hates making multiple trips back and forth from the house to car, so I carry as much as I possibly can!) I love that I can access the trunk without having to put anything down and searching for my keys. You simply just kick your foot underneath the trunk and voilà! You can do the same to close it.
- Amazing Trunk space with or without the third row in use – During my search for a new car, this was one of my biggest disappointments! There are so many SUVs out there that appear to have spacious trucks, but when the third row is in use, the trunk space shrinks dramatically sometimes to the point that it’s not even useable. In the Aviator, when the third row is down, space is plentiful. Even when the third row is in use, you still have a good amount of space for groceries, strollers, and whatnot. The first photo below shows the trunk space with the third row up and ready to use. The second photo shows what the trunk space is like after a food shopping trip for two households with the third row down. (There is still extra space behind the grocery bags in the second pic.)
- My kids love it – My kids (well, mostly my son) complain about our current car all the time. They absolutely loved the Aviator. They too were impressed by the space, comfort, and technology it affords. I know they say “happy wife, happy life,” but sometimes “happy kids, happy mommy” seems more appropriate.
Overall, being able to incorporate the Lincoln Aviator into my everyday life was a wonderful experience! It is the perfect SUV for busy moms who are always on-the-go! I am grateful to Lincoln of Smithtown for allowing me to drive this beauty for a full week. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below!
